Always In Control
25 years in the security environment I have visited thousands of
crime scenes, interviewed the residents and criminals.
I have seen the point of enter (start) and the point of exit (end)
of this crime scenes.
Every one of these crime scenes have two main aspects in common
namely:
-
No knowledge of security.
-
Not in control before the crime.
You will understand the problem if you answers this 4 questions.
-
What is security?
-
What is the value of security?
-
How do we measure the value of security?
-
How do we communicate the value of security?
We at Alwinco try to answer these 4 questions.
Aim
The aim of
Alwinco
(Always in control) is to provide the knowledge to those
Individuals, Complex committees, Communities, Property developers,
Property managers and Business owners, giving them the
control, skills and the know-how to make homes, businesses and
properties more resistant to crime.
Along the 25 years I have become well informed in all aspects of
crime, crime prevention, security systems, alarms and cameras.
Why
When was the last time you heard about a house breaking, armed
robbery or Hijacking?
Maybe you have been target yourself. Not a good feeling, is it?
You don’t have to be a victim
Have a Security Risk Assessment (SRA)
Security risk assessment
may be the most important step in the security process. (This is
the one process that is always ignored in our security)
Remember no house, Individuals, Complex committees, Communities,
Property and Business is absolutely crime-proof when professional
criminals target it. But they would be the first to admit that you
can discourage them if you are in control of your security.
Security is knowledge.
What is a Risk Assessment?
A risk assessment is the inspection of work tasks,
activities or premises so that potential weak points can be
identified, and the risks they present can be evaluated so that
preventative or protective measures can be implemented.
Security Risk Assessment (SRA)
Security risk assessment may be the most important step in the
security process. (This is the one process that is always ignored
in our security)
There is a lot more to security risk assessment than just looking at
your doors, windows and locks or alarm systems to figuring out what
security measures are need,
Objectives of Security Risk Assessment:
-
Survey property and neighborhood
-
Identify potential security risks
-
Make recommendations to reduce the risks
-
Understand the balance between security and safety
-
Reducing your chances of becoming a victim
This requires a physical site security survey in 5 phases
-
The core or inner security
-
The shell or the building itself
-
The outer security or courtyard, garden or parking area.
-
The perimeter or security fence which is the first line of
protection
-
The surroundings or neighborhood
Consider
this….
By the time the alarm goes off, it may be TOO LATE!
An intruder is already inside your home or office!
